The actions required to avoid flooding in future are different from Cleanliness. There are two different Govt. departments to tackle these issues. However, Anushka Singh has made a very pertinent suggestion. Let us all unite to make our cities clean. My suggestion is that every street should form its committee to co-ordinate with Municipality. Let there be a Competition among GHATS for cleanliness. more

Since more than 6 decades the Congress was ruling and no body dared to point out the shortcomings - How can you expect the present Govt. which has just come to clean the entire mess - This may take another 20 years to do. The bridge shown has been laid many years back and like this there are 1000 of underbridges are there all over India - where the water cannot go anywhere as there will not be any manholes at that low level for the rain water to flow out. It has to be pumped out are within a day it will automatically dry up. more

It is indeed the responsibility of local citizens and voluntary organisations apart from Govt. agencies to ensure cleanliness of such important pilgrimage centre where thousands congregate every day. Warning notice boards should be installed to insist on floating population to co-operate. All feclities like garbage dumps, clean toilets etc. should be provided in sufficicient numbers and convenient intervals. Nagarajan more
