Flouting warranty period.

I purchased a Heating Element /rod for my Elac Water heater. As that company is not producing the heating element, (due to the fact that they want to push Heaters in the market) I had to purchase local heating element of a company called "Nimbus care". I purchased this from Mahadev Electricals Stores, Mogappair, Chennai. Though the above Nimbus Care (producer of product) has issued warranty card for 1 year from the date of purchase, the Shop keeper said above is not prepared to honour the warranty card in future also, and said that he will not accept the product even if it get out of order in future time. Is this not contrary to the warranty rules and liable for punishments? The Govt.of India, Deptt.of Consumer Affairs must take action on this. more

When we buy a product, Seller will say loudly about warranty is 2 years , 5 years etc. We should clearly ask, what are the "items not covered under warranty". and ask where is the repair center. This will give the reality about warranty terms. Accordingly be ready for any problem that you may come across. If it is Hand bag or Bag, free warranty repair will not be much useful as the transportation cast will be more, and waiting period. So we go to nearest repair shop and get it done immediately. Normally for Electrical/Electronics items, Design problem will surface immediately and should get it changed or repaired immediately. Dont delay. They will do it fast. If the problem comes later, they will tell story like parts not available etc. Whatever the case, you should take note of the Manufacture contact details, and the nearest authorised service center for warranty related issues. more  
If the seller is not an authorised dealer of the product, he may not have an arrangement with the manufacturer for after sale service and replacement of defective products. more  
Please read terms and conditions of the warranty. 2. It is the manufacturer to provide the warranty of the product. The traders are not responsible for any warranty services. The traders at best can assist you to get lodge your complaint. So advise is to take up your complaint with the manufacturer who are mandated to write customer care details on the box containing the product and also on warranty card. 3. In case you feel violation of warranty terms as stated in the warranty card, you will have the right to make complaint to the district consumer forum against the manufacturer. This is the considered advise. more  
Otherwise please register your complaint with the Grievance redressal mechanism of the State and wait for 15days if any response then proceed otherwise file a complaint in the District Consumer Court and follow up . more  
you have paid and will not hence have any say. rather the seller is the king and customer is an underdog even after paying what is demanded! more
