FOAM IN MARINA, CHENNAI AFTER RAINS :
According to experts from Coastal Research , such foaming is common after the first spell of heavy monsoon rains . It is due to huge quantities of pollutants from the surface flow. In this case it is from the Sewage from Adyar and cooum rivers that has been washed into the sea. As it goes in to the sea , the churning of waters due to the heavy winds , the foam is generated from the pollutants. However the foam extended just up to 50 feet and beyond that the water was dark grey in colour and not azure blue or green a beach waters should be .
The generation of Foam indicates that , there will be high concentration of Microbes and chemicals from the sewage water . I have seen this in the other Rivers turned Sewage Canal in Chennai , the Buckingham canal, cooum , Adyar, Ottery Nullah in the Inland itself when the gushing water mixes with the sewage water.
IT IS BETTER TO BE FOREWARNED NOT TO BE PLAYING IN THE FOAM PARTICULARLY DURING THE FIRST SPELL WHEN THE CONCENTRATION OF THE MICROBES AND CHEMICALS ARE HIGH .
The mixing of Sewage water into the Sea and Waterways is not phenomena , only seen in Chennai . I HAVE SEEN THIS GOD’S OWN COUNTRY IN 4 BEACHES WHERE THE SEWAGE WATER FROM THE RESORTS AND THE NEARBY RESIDENTIAL HOUSES ARE LET IN. IT IS A PERENNIAL FLOW .Why in Visakhapatnam the Cleanest city in India , the VUDA beach you see streams coming from the Hotels and the Residences across the Roads. We are under the impression that Kanyakumari is a place where 3 seas[ocean, sea, bay ] congregate ,There is another stream joining the sea from the Eastern land side. But at least the administration has put up Groynes along the flow mixing into water to a distance .
GOD SAVE ALL THOSE CHILDREN WHO PLAY IN BEACH WATERS AND SEA FOOD CONSUMERS. more
