Yes, VOCs and Lead are poisons. However, no point in expecting the FSSAI to get into this, as they can get into organised industry, not street vendors. We just have to spread this to all our friends & leave things to their discretion. more  

Can you change the childhood habits which have grown along with the age of the person? Unless & until person wants to mend his mistakes & follow corrective measures nothing can be done. So first we will have to educate people from the childhood about the adverse effects of using newspaper for eating our food. Also never shy to pin point the mistakes that others do & after pin pointing the mistakes tell them the remedial methods & appreciate if person changes the bad habits to good. Simply Carrot or simply Stick does not work but Stick & Carrot together works wonders. The Child I will say every most of grown up people do not know the adverse effects of using the Newspaper for keeping the eatables. They do not know anything about harmful Chemical in the Ink i.e. Lead & almost the firbres that are shed in the newspapers. Earlier people were using Banana Tree's leaves, aluminium Foil or Disposable Plates. Since the cost factor is involved people use the cheapest thing available i.e.Newspaper, which people throw away after reading Newspaper. FSSAI cannot do anything unless a written complaint is lodged with the concrete proof. They are meant to make & issue guidelines. It is like saying "you can take Horse to the water pond but it has to drink water of its own." In India we follow Enforcement rather than following advise quietly. more
