Food delivery services - the costly cost to customer

A good restaurant near my house: 2 idlis - ₹ 20
Zomato/swiggy (from the same restaurant):
2 idlis ₹36
Deliver charges ₹32
Packing ₹10
Taxes. ₹ 4
Total: ₹82.
In addition we add some tip (we know what the delivery persons are going through and need to give them every support)
So, the delivery is about 4 times the actual cost. Even if one adds packing to the original cost, it is still high.
Why do these delivery companies charge almost double for the food? Of the delivery charges, how much actually goes to the delivery person - ₹15?
At this time, these companies should look at reducing the costs since the volumes are high. But, it looks like they are interested in huge profits for their shareholders and stakeholders. more

In this pendamic most of the agencies are looting the common Citizens. Compare the cost you were paying a year ago, now they have sky rocketed. Presently you can not venture in the market and hence can not choose. Things are thrusted on you by your nearest vendor. Even authenticity of price is questionable. more
Now, here is joke of the day. In my swiggy account, I had changed the mobile number since I wanted the food to be delivered to someone else. I could not change it back to my mobile number since the app said that "the number already exists:. Sent email to swiggy to reset it. No response. Put it on FB page of swiggy. The following was the response: ___________________________________________________________________ Thank you for your patience, Paddy. I have checked the feasibility for this change. As per our policy, you will have to wait for the next 6 months from the day it was changed. I do recognize the inconvenience this puts you in and request you to wait till then. ___________________________________________________________________ what a fantastic business model. They fleece customers and don't mind losing customers. more
A businessman always wants to maximise its profit. When the market has so much of restrictions, atleast the consumer should not see the cost, but the comfort of getting the facility of door delivery. more
Good suggestion more
Dear Sir, thanks for your post. It is up to us to decide our priorities, within the constraints that each of us has. So far, I have not used any such service, since I get all our day to day requirements fulfiled within 200-300 meters from my house. May be your constraints or compulsions are different. I tend to agree with Mr. J Sreenivasa. Have a healthy and safe week ahead!! more
Sir, this restaurant is also about 300 metres from our house. Since we are confined to our flat for the current state of affairs reason, it will take us another week before we step out. Irrespective of 100 metres or 100 km, the app companies are doing injustice to customers for their selfish motives. more
