Food safety and nutrition
Friends, we have been discussing ga lot about the food safety and it's nutrinal values, but perhaps large number of circle members have never ever known the effects of packaging material ,which comees in direct contact of food items, as sold in the market and so far never heard any such REGULATION PROMULGATTED BY FSSAI, EXCEPT THE RECENT ONE NOT TO SAKE ANY FOOD ITEMS WRAPED IN NEWSPAPERS.
Just for the sake of the unformation of our frriends on this circle, taht many plastic or synthetic food package material has lot of other chemical addiitves, which migrates to the surface of that plastic film and they are not good for health ,
Just recently a law and revised standards are enforced in China abot such chemicals limit in food pacakging plastic material, it is worth reading, if any one has interest and any querry pl feel free to share here or can talk to me on my phone number as well.

Additives for food packaging China's National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) has published 53 mandatory national standards applicable to food-contact materials marketed in the People's Republic of China, replacing all previous regulations and standards. The new standards are aligned with the international standards and more practical in implementation.
Revised Food Contact Law GB9685-2016
In the revised food contact legislation - GB9685-2016 Standard for the use of additives for food contact materials and articles - a specific migration limit for nonylphenol has been introduced of 10ppb (0.010mg/kg) for all food contact materials including plastics, rubber, and adhesives. The implications of this law are significant, as any polymer material using TNPP as a stabilizer, independent of its relative level of purity, will likely have nonylphenol above this migration limit

Mr.Chandan Saha , thanks. It is not the matter related to BRANDED OR NON-BRANDED PRODUCT. IT IS THE ADDTIVES TAHTA RE ADDED AT THE POLYMERS MANUFACTURING TIME, TAT IS THE ISSUE, IIP I KNOW VWEERY WELL THEY DON'T DECIDE OR PRESCRIBED ANY LEVEL OF ADDITIVES IN THE FOOD PACKAGING. THEY SUGGEST THE TYPE OF PACKAJING PRODCUTS AS WELL AS IT'S MECHANICAL PROPERTTIES ARE TESTED FOR ROUGH HANDLING AS PER THE ASM STADARDS FOLLOWD WORLD OVER and same are REPRODCUCED BY THE BIS HERE. Yes, this is a serious matter. But branded product manufacturers are usually using package materials as per product nature and also get it tested before use. The only problem for the small manufacturers who have no such facility or have no technical knowledge about it. Indian Institute of Packaging(IIP) has been undertaking such works for the last few decades. It's the manufacturers to avail the facilities provided by the institution. It may be displayed on the package products that packaging has been done as per IIP guidelines/ certified by an independent agency(by name). more

I was very happy to ready Kaushikkji's point! We completely underestimate the ill effect of plastic. Its not the plastic but more the special softeners used to give the plastic its special quality which very often are company secrets. These softeners are extremely harmful to health. Its time we wake up to all this sneaking health threats. more
