Food Safety at District Level

I would like to ask FSSAI CEO as to what is his plan to implement food safety at district/zila panchayat levels. So far the members of the circle are sharing good things but not a single thing has come from FSSAI CEO and/or his team on how they plan to address problems and violations on ground so actually malpractices are punished and discouraged. Is there a plan because I feel issuing notifications is easy part in India, enforcing them is where rubber meets the road. more

very much true sir... everybody will escalate their responsibility to other ..... more
Very well said ... implementation is actually where we fall flat, that's because all employees of the Govt, whether they're officers or foot servants, are amenable to taking some money to "look the other way". What we actually need is a change in outlook, making new laws is not going to help. more
Health Services fall under State Governments. The State Health Authorities are deadly corrupt and non-accountable. Every body has got a secure job till superannuation. The salaries are not linked to performance. The local politicians support are sorts of corrupt practices like adulteration, spurious/sub-standard products, allowing food joints in the open with total disregard to cleanliness to jack-up vote bank. If by chance, Health Inspector draws sample of milk products, he has asked to disappear by the ruling party Minister as the milk vendors unions are very strong and threaten to stop supplies. The politicians need their votes to stay in power. If the Health Officials are made accountable for any lapse and harsh punishment is given to the wrong doers, nothing will change at the ground level. more
