Forming a Temple trust

My great grandfather around 100 years ago had allotted some land to SriRama Temple and started constructing a temple. But due to ill luck and health issues he got bedridden and no one of his five sons (my grand fathers) took care of the temple issues and the temple was neglected as a ruin till 2002. In 2002, some villagers ha again took up the construction work of the temple by collecting 'chanda'. Let us say this happened because they had some ill intentions about the temple and also to gain some name and fame in the village. There is no registered trust formed on the name of temple. But after that it is not properly looked upon and the daily rituals as per Aagama Sastra were not being performed. So as per village tradition and also being the eldest son of my father who is the eldest son of my grandfather who is also the eldest son of my great grand father, I am supposed to look after the temple activities. But when I approached the village heads saying that I will contribute monthly 13000 towards the development of the temple and also would donate 2 cents of land towards temple when it will registered as trust and I being a Donor Family Member, they feel somewhat adamant to proceed further and register the temple as trust. Now is there anyway that I can proceed legally against some villagers to get the temple registered as trust fro the all round development of the trust ? At present all the presents to the temple are being given to some persons personally and no account is being maintained on temple's name please guide more

Unless you are able to convince the villagers of your good intentions they are bound to treat you with suspicion. Since the donation of land to the temple was made 100 years ago and no one from the original donor has taken up the position of hereditary trustee so far they will not view your demands favourably. It is better to be viewed as an honourable member of the society which is catered to by the temple than with suspicion as someone who wishes to rock the boat. That too after so many years! You yourself can create a private trust in your name for the welfare of the temple if you so desire. Otherwise you can see in what other way you can assist the village, through donating scholarships for poor students. L.Kalavathi Retd. Bank Official Chennai, Tamilnadu, India 24/05/2017 more
When it was totally neglected by your forefathers and family members for decades and now the villagers have come forward to recondition it, why should you be suspicious about their intention and motives and try to induct yourself in the process of renovation of the temple as the heir of its founder? Instead, if you offer your selfless services being an ordinary resident of the village like others, you will definitely be welcomed by all of them. more
