Free Parking
I propose that the concept of paid parking be abolished in Gurgaon and the whole of India. To me it is an evil that breeds corruption, causes traffic jams and attracts the criminals from the 2 notorious states of India to become "parking mafiosi". I don't believe it adds to Government or Municipal revenue but only fills the bellies of corrupt officials and in many cases only the parking mafia.
I invite a debate on this subject that is relieving our wallets of around a 1000 rupees every month. more

Mr Sunil is right. Many green belts are used to illegal parking and they put the board: HUDA Authorized Parking and charge from all. You won't believe, earning of parking in front of millennium plaza (sector-27) near iffco metro station is 1.75L in a month. An experienced MBA doesn't get this amount in his salary. It seems that an illiterate can earn more money than an educated person. more

Right Mr Sud and Mr Sonawane. Its the mark et association who is responsable of the parking places to ne marked not police or mafia who alongwith police works to extract money from people like us. Instead of putting a proper rules by market association thèse mafia's Will grow and once association people stand united and say and hire people for the same nobody has power to say against so we should talk to thèse market association about This parking menace in all the markets in and around so That the Traffic is regulated nicely and nobody has any problem neither the shoppers not the traffic which get badly affected with thèse disturbance as people park wherever they get a space to squeeze in. more

Thanks Bhanu......Free Parking means people park at designated parking spaces not at "No Parking" zones. Once India becomes a Free Parking country all ills will vanish. Look at Sector 29, 14 and 31 markets; parking is free and it works. It then becomes the responsibility of the local market association to hire guards who assist people while parking. more

Free parking may be misused by some irresponsible persons who would use these spaces as their personal car park, what is required is regulated automated car parks which are not run bt police assisted parking mafia ,which obstructs all movement and flow of traffic in market places and hog the major partys of the road. Roads are not for parking and if there is no other alternative the place allocared should be clearly marked by appropriate authority and parking should be monitored by independent agency and by CCTV cameras enabled system to ensure the road users are not inconvenienced. The police does not monitor the parking mafia as it is commonly believed and evident circumstantially that they are stake holders in the booty. more
