Freedom 251

The episode of Freedom 251 smartphone that is being played out this week seems to be one more attempt to discredit the present government by interested parties. My reasons for saying this are:

1. The deluge of publicity for a smartphone at an unsustainable price (can you get any new phone at this price, forget smartphones) being offered by a company with no past track record with some of the senior BJP members being associated with its launch
2. Collection of money in full if you want to buy this phone (earlier when low cost tablets from Datawind were offered there was no money involved for registration).
3. The use of national flag somehow giving the impression that this initiative has government's blessings
4. The publicity associating this phone with 'make-in India' initiative even though there is no evidence of any manufacturing facilities to make this phone in India.

There is no certainty that those who have paid the money will get these phones (I wish they get but the extraordinarily low price puts a question mark), in which case it will become a gigantic scam. If that happens:
1. Anti-national congress and its mouth-pieces will blame the BJP even though several of the mouthpieces are actively promoting the initiative now. Some of them even published articles as to how this price is possible.
2. They will also attempt to discredit make-in India campaign itself and by association the PM. After all make-in India has been never supported by the anti-national congress since they thrive on imports and all that it implies.
3. PM Modi will be blamed for not issuing any statement.

To avoid all this the government must initiate a few pro-active measures.
1. Freeze all the holdings and documentation of this company and ensure that in the event of failure to supply the phones people get their money back and the promoters are dealt with in accordance with law.
2. Initiate an NIA investigation (do not allow the corrupt bureau of investigation to go anywhere near) about the antecedents of the people behind this.
3. BJP leaders who lent the names must immediately issue a public statement making their position clear.
4. Ask the company not to use the national flag in the product or its advertising. more

I agree with Shri Govind Vijayaraghavan. The Central Government mus keep a close watch on the activities of this company and ensure that the public at large is not made victim of another scam. If ill-intentions are detected all behind this must be exposed and punished. This said, one would also expect the Indian People to understand that "too much of greed is always harmful". IF ITS SCREEN OF A SMARTPHONE GETS DAMAGED, EVEN IT CANNOT BE REPLACED IN Rs. 251/=. EVEN THE BATTERY COSTS MORE THAN THIS! more
your points are exactly correct.I welcome your suggestions. more
