Friends this is a dangerous trend, and does not bode well for this country. Some time back I went to a hardware shop to buy a special type of bolt and nut. I wanted 6nos. of them. The shop keeper pulled out a box ( it must have contained about 100 nos of that item). Believe me I could get only 2 nos that fitted properly all the others were rejects. Such instances really scare me. We produce scrap and sell scrap. All this make in India is an eye wash. While we do have a small percentage of individuals of world calibre, majority of our workers and even middle level workers are unfit and do neither know their jobs well nor interested in doing what little they know.
There is no standardisation in this country. All the BIS makings are really worthless, as there is no one to check whether the goods that bear those marks, really match the standards.
We are really fooling ourselves into believing that our country is "Mahaan". It can only be what the 1.2 billion people make of it. Unfortunately what is happening is not encouraging.

Lack of quality control of such products manufactured by Small scale industries. more
This proves it again and again and again how linient the quality control departments in our production factories are. Defective products should not be allowed to enter the markets. more
The sooner we become quality conscious the better for us & the country. We are adept at cutting corners but do not realise the pitfalls of such action. more
I agree with Mr.Iyer. This is same for services sector also, I ordered for service from HouseJoy and felt cheated as they are demanding more money than agreed (also paid)to fix the problem more
