For the last few years the retailers,s are become extra wise.Double or triple price of the whole sale price they are selling the articles.Govt. should start some shops to sell the vegetables and other commodities i.e. from direct whole seller to customer as in Goa the Govt. horticulture shops are doing.With this at least there is some relief. more

In a fight between big and small players, big players always win. sometimes in andhra pradesh we see in the news that some farmers through the tomatoes as waste as they don't get even transportation charges. At the same time Tomatoes cost Rs 50 to 60 in other parts of the state, not country. whom to blame? Middle men get the benefit and the producers and consumers pay for it. only way is to creat massovement not to buy anything costly beyond reasonable rate. suppose onions are more costly lets not buy onions and we may observe Onion free week or weeks . As long as we need a detailed complaint to verify the malpractices, situation will not change. the market monitoring agencies need to be more active. more

This solution is possible only when other less expensive alternatives are available. e.g Patrol Prices, lower consumption will bring prices down at the same time mass transit and/or alternative source of energy is available. In case of Onions and other staple vegetables, I think, Amul type revolution is necessary. Create more of local level farmer co-operatives and in next 2-3 years we will see results. more
