FSSAI Certificate process has issues

So only 20% of restaurants in our town Vijayawada have FSSAI certification. This certification business is a money making way for food officers.

Unless FSSAI changes this whole process and makes it effective and corruption free, these certificates are meaningless.

Most people hire consultants and pay bribe to food officer to coordinate it. Why dont you use citizen volunteers? more

In India, the registration/certification from any Govt. Body is done through touts only as they are 'authorised' and safe conduits for taking bribes. As such any ineligible entities get the required certificates by sitting at home/office without completing the minimum formalities for meeting the desired standards. This has led to wide spread corruption in the society. Even the shell companies are registered through such Agents which has become a great menace for the Indian economy. There is need to make the system fool proof and treating every corrupt/unfair mean as a serious criminal offence. Such rogue elements have helped India to become one of the most corrupt countries in the world. more
The biggest disease in our country is corruption-cum-greed more
The problem is that the way the rules are made it makes it impossible for a small restaurant to get FSSAI certification. Let me give you the simple case of water - the water supplied by local authorities does not pass the required specifications laid down by FSSAI. The small restaurant does not have the space or means to install the required RO system. There are many more conditions that the authorities concerned do not satisfy. more
