FSSAI - Cultivation in filthy water

In yamuna region vegetables grown in highly polluted high arsenic water are then sold in markets in delhi ncr and end up on our plate.

Many times the pipes are so bad that the water becomes contaminated on the way.

Cant fssai create a awareness and enforcement program with municipalities to hold them responsible for state of pipes and any polluted water body cultivation in their area.

Otherwise how will we control this menace. We will have a cancer epidemic 20-30 years from now.

Wake up call... more

In India we lack self decipline. For more then 50% of our problems we as citizens are responsible.More over our laws are mostly favourable for culprits and are very very slow on implementation.Unless this is made strict we can not expect any improvement in our system. more
Good expose. Hope FSSAI takes immediate remedial measures. more
In Hyderabad ,River Musi bed and all polluted lake feeding channels are giving life to such vegetables in their beds .The Telengana govt is yet to stop this ! more
In India the Food/Health Regulators are non functional and non-accountable bodies. Even excess use of pesticides/fertilizers/insecticides is producing food grains unfit for human consumption but there is no effective authority to check all the eatables. The oxytocin injection was being misused for about 50 years to increase the milk production/size of vegetables which was very harmful to the animals/human beings. Many export consignments are rejected by the foreign inspection bodies but Indian authorities do not wake up nor action is taken against the corrupt and negligent officials. The number of patients with all sorts of diseases in increasing throughout the country. There should be an independent commission like Election commission to handle all food/health related issues. Political patronage to the wrong doers is adding to the problem. more
Vegetables for Mumbai are grown around the railway tracks using filthiest water. This should be checked too. more
