FUNDS CRUCH IN SOUTHERN RAILWAYS, CLEANING SERVICES ON TRAINS TO BE HIT :

Deciding to suspend On Board Housekeeping Services (OBHS) in 86 trains originating from Tamilnadu and Kerala. Also planning to withdraw / Curtail Annual Maintenance & Operation Contract .

Thanks Southern Railways , Rail Ministry for the move . Ultimately the move must have originated from the P.M. This will be construed by the Rail Passengers/ Customers as a measure of Revamp of Services from the Railways to take care of the Customer's Needs. Good move , each one of us needs a pat on the shoulders.

Hope the future such contracts will be Regional Railways specific and not Centrally decided to give absolute control over the Contractors by the Regional Railways .

IT WILL BE HEARTENING FOR THE PASSEENGERS IF A SIMILAR MOVE IS INITIATED ON IRCTC. There are several Grievances pertaining to ,
i) on line ticket Booking ii) the close to the chest(not transparent ) Quota system iii) Tatkal Booking by passengers iv) Nexus with Agents v) Advising to “BOOK Now “ – a good number of them not getting confirmed , getting automatically cancelled and FULL AMOUNT NOT REFUNDED. Vi) painful advertisements appearing at crucial moments while booking on line
And many more ,
- This deserves a Jai Hind (Victory to India ) more

Wow ! it's like a thriller story.... The PM promotes "Swatchh Bharat Abhiyaan"....... The Centre does not pay to Southern Railways their dues..... The SR wants to suspend "cleaning of trains", a point which hits the Abhiyaan's nerve; It's kind of blackmail. The Centre releases funds. ..... But The video shoes that cleaning staff is not trained .. They even rebuff passengers' suggestion to collect the litter in garbage bags.... They push the garbage out of the trains into the open.... And there goes the sanctity of PM's promotion of "Swatch Bharat Abhiyan"....... We find ourselves once again at "cross roads"......three guesses for "who'll win?" more
And what's more interesting is that during the suspension period of OBHS, the fare of tickets will remain same. Means, we'll be charged the same for less services. more
I have also seen the cleaning agency sweep the litter on the railway tracks. I don't know about Southern Railway, but I find that the cleaning of the trains has stopped after the elections. Looks like all the cleaning of trains was a stunt for votes. I travel frequently on the Konkan Railway route. more
I quite agree with s/shri VAITHEESWARAN SANKARANARAYANAN, Parsa Vijay Rajeswar Rao, Jayakrishnan Kaveseri in that passenger education is equally, perhaps more important, for cleanliness of stations and trains. Also we should not expect that additional facilities shall be given free of charge and therefore suggestion by shri Jayakrishnan Kaveseri should be seriously considered simultaneously with various improvements desired and necessary by/for passengers. I think increase of 10 paisa/Km. for all express trains and above would generate enough revenue for railways to improve current level of services in all areas. Passenger trains may be kept out of this increase Disinfecting of passenger coaches at the starting stations to eliminate cockroach and rat menace is necessary. Innumerable rats at every major junction also needs looking at. Contracting cleaning services may not be objectionable if Railways continues to be accountable for laps of Contractor and takes remedial measures. RYK. more
The news items is almost a knee jerk reaction for yesterdays news . We welcome the quick decision. SOUTHERN RAILWAYS NOT TO STOP HOUSE KEEPING - Rs. 50 Crores sanctioned to clear bills. Railways has 165 years of Legacy , heritage , combining different railways in the country .Since then, the railway network in India has grown to become one of the world’s largest, covering over 151,000 km of tracks and ferrying about 24 million people every day ( that is close to the Population of Australia- 25,088,636) . And a work force of 13 Lakh . It is not a joke to mange this magnitude. You can’t expect the entire 13 Lakh to be co operative and honest . Even the ones who want to be will be poo pooed by the majority . THAT WHERE WE THE CIRCLS PITCH IN AS A HELPING HAND . Take a keen look at the Attached video posted by a circle member in the same Circle where you see trash being pushed out by cleaning staff . And when the Circle member asked him to collect and put into the Garbage bag , he was poo pooed ; the arrogant / ignorant staff poo pooed a Legitimate Passenger / valued Customer . Do they need support from people ? or do they have to be put in the right track ? don’t want to take Cudgels against such indifferent staff . But how will one avoid this Opinion - “These days, however, Indian Railways is more likely to make the news for a lack of hygiene and delays, besides terrible accidents. But the system itself is inextricably connected to the story of India”. But ALL WE WANT IS TO MAKE RAILWAYS BETTER , NOTHING MORE . All are not Railway Employees. You have some suggestions to make Railways you are welcome , But not be the 1 % to be deaf , dumb & blind to whats happenning in the Railways . Also kindly don’t criticise or intimidate the ONES DOING IT WITH LOTS OF HOPE TO BRING BACK THE LOOSING GLORY OF INDIAN RAILWAYS. ALL THAT IS REQUIRED OF RAILWAYS TODAY IS TO SHARE THE GOAL OFF RAILWAYS TO THE HILT (to the very last grade and make it happen ). more
Why does one have to litter? A responsible citizen needs to carry his own litter and dump it into a bin. Would he do it in his own house? Don't you feel that Rs. 50 crores is wasted by the Railways for our negligence? more
