Ganga-Yamuna cleaning

Hello friends.. We all know govt spends millions on cleaning river.. We also want to keep our rivers clean but being a Hindu, m taught that all stuff related to God has to be disposed in flowing water (rivers). When i stop my parents not to throw these stuffs in river, they ask me what to do then..?? I turn speechless.. Is there a way to solve it out? I think v all face this problem more

The practice came into being (according to me) when only natural flowers, leaves and organic materials were used for Pooja/Prayers. These became food for the marine life and blended back in nature. But today along with these, we also throw plastics, metals, synthetic stuff which is poison for the marine life. And when we drink this contaminated water, even our bodies are being indirectly poisoned/degraded. Stop using artificial, synthetic stuff and stop drinking bottled water...go back to our age old, time-tested methods of boiling and filtering water at home, and become both Healthier and Wealthier. more
Dear Mr. B.M. Geethaprasad, it is is very difficult and illogical to change the custom.. It would be better if v could find an alternate to the disposal method which does not harm religious sentiments and preach the same. The suggestions for such methods are sought. more
Atleast shtdown all the industries along these rivers to prevent dumping their industrial / chemicals & waste in the river. And the cities' municipal waste disposal system also to be rejigged and sewage be routed to some wastelands / recycled. more
THROWING ANYTHING, WHETHER POOJA MATERIAL,REMAINS OF THE DEAD,GARBAGESEWERAGE OR ANYTHING SHOULD BE STRICTLY BANNED.ONLY PRAYERS COUNT AND NOT THE MATERIALS.WE HAVE TO CHANGE OUR CUSTOMS AND RITUALS ACCORDING TO THE NEED OF THE TIME.NOT BLINDLY FOLLOWING WITHOUT ANY STUFF. more
