Garbage bags
All passengers like to have snacks during a train journey. However, there are no facilities to collect the leftovers or empty containers made of plastic, styrofoam etc. Also, dustbins provided below the wash basins are full or blocked. With the result that even if we are cleanliness-conscious, we are forced to throw such garbage out of the windows. I would suggest that vendors from pantry cars may provide garbage bags alongwith tea/snacks served by them with a request to the passengers to collect garbage in these and discard them in dustbins at railway stations. more

The vendors should be entrusted with the clearance of garbage bins/bags. During rainsy season, stincking smell comes from the garbage bins which are full especially breakfast/Lunch/Dinner. Alternativelly, cleaning squads at junction/major stations should be entrusted with this job. Bullet Trains in Japan are cleared of the waste items etc from the coaches in just 8 mts. Squads should be trained , kept ready and supervised properly. more

The first suggestion is more practical and feasible with the passengers who generate the garbage themselves clear them at the next major stop. more

At present garbage is collected after end of journey. Till then it is overflowing. It should be cleaned/emptied on all major stop. This will help to atleast conscious passengers. more

One way till we don't get better garbage collection mehanism at every place would be to keep the garbage in a Carrybag and throw once areived on the station or somebody comes to collect it...the garbage is mostly dry so will not stink in the carrybag. This is not permanent solution but atlest we will not have guilt of throwing garbage in public... more
