Garbage segregation on Roads - Turning the existing Swachh places into possible breeding areas of diseases

The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in action has, no doubt, created greater awareness about the requirement of clean surroundings. While each of us are making attempts to do our bit, bottlenecks still exist and they need to be resolved fast. Garbage segregation is something many of us are actively participating in. But are we doing it effectively enough? Why then is there a need of a re-segregation of garbage by the collectors? Attached in this post are some snaps I took while I was on my way to office. This is no unknown lane of a remote area but a major connecting road in one of the popular areas of Bangalore. The commuters were already facing a hard time with the heavy traffic on the narrow roads, and to add to the woes the garbage spills over to half of the road which forces the commuters to travel over the garbage.

This is not the scenario with only one area but this is the scene in multiple areas, including posh ones in Bangalore. And what is being done after the garbage is dumped? - It is being segregated again...

The garbage trucks are offloaded here, followed by multiple people segregating the garbage on roads like these and they are then cleared up from the place. If segregation is needed again, then the segregation that we, the residents, are doing is flawed somewhere. We are not helping in any way. These areas have become a breeding place for mosquitoes and insects. even when the place is cleared up, the stench stays, along with the overall uncleanliness.

We should re-look at the techniques being used for clearing garbage. why have open roads in public places been selected for segregation? If we are serious about Swachh Bharat, then these glaring issues should be looked at with the highest priority. more

Hindus, Please feed these holy cows just grass and leaves and give them clean water, is that too much to ask for? Why cows are holy - "A cow can eat grass and convert that into milk to feed 20 little children and her own calf. Do you know any human or god who can do that?" That is the answer I used to give to western people who tried to joke about Indians worshiping cows. But after seeing the reality how cows are treated in India and how they are treated in Switzerland, I think Cows are not worshiped by Indians, many are abused, so are many mothers in modern India, we just talk B.S. and brag about our glorious past. A terrible deterioration of a great philosophy a great culture. But it is not hopeless, I met a real communist in a small village of Andhra. He openly says he is old fashioned communist and a farmer. He feeds 40 cows for free, and the milk goes to feed the calves. I asked why do you do that? He replied " Oh! We use the cow dung as the manure for the lemon trees". I thought "What a noble man, and how prejudiced I am to misjudge him because he does not believe in any B.S. religions." (yes, B.S. , you read that right. He uses that to produce lemon, and we .the Hindus. how do we abuse these holy animals and starve them or feed then trash. One fellow in this forum even suggested - Use the bulls to go round and round to produce electricity at night. Well, wait for your next life buddy! You will be born as a mule in Nepal carrying my tent and luggage up the mountains all night. :) more
The photo shown above, one of million awful sites found in all the State and in all places, be it Metropolitan city, or city or towns, of villages and if pictures of all these are posted this Local circles will not be sufficient. This one shown as example, and the Government of India should take rapid action more
True Sir. I had another interesting snap to share where a commuter is actually riding over this (obviously since he has no other choice) but looks like we can attach only one picture to a post. Nevertheless, as long as the authorities open their eyes to this menace, it should be ok. more
Holy cow! This reminds me of Russell Peters comedy " God said to Indians - you can survive in the filthiest place and you will be good with computers, ..... " Are we blind, inactive or have stopped thinking? Diseases may just kill half of us off and all the money, imported cars and software programming are not going to be of any use, when the basic hygiene and cleanliness are missing. God save the children, the future of India. Dr R. Sinha more
