Geriatric care…

Ram Nath is nearing eighty, but his body-faculties are all in order. He has two sons and one daughter; all married and happily settled in their respective homes. He lost his wife two years ago, and leads a retired life with hardly any savings of his own.

Ram Nath, unfortunately, is now a burden for his own sons; every month, he is shunted from one house to the other in an unceremonious manner, and he doesn’t want to stay with his daughter (“Beti ke ghar kaise rahun!”).

Lately, Ram Nath has noticed gradually-decreasing vision in both eyes, so-much-so that he hits a chair at his elder son’s house and breaks his spectacles.

Getting a pair of cheap readymade reading glasses is not an option as Ram Nath needs spects both for his distance and near vision needs, as also an eye examination. Ultimately the matter gets resolved with the daughter paying for the eye doctor’s fee and the eye drop medication, and the cost of the pair of bifocal spectacles divided between the two sons.

Moral of the story: Don’t let your parents undergo the inhuman treatment like the one received by Ram Nath; respect your elders…and hope for receiving respect from your children when you grow old! more

Expect the same from your children what you are doing for your parents. more
It is really truth we need to think a solution. more
