just blaming hundred percent for farm fires is myopic. Check normal travel time anywhere in Delhi. It is three times the normal it should be. Just remove all illegal encroachments, parking on roads, improper parking on roads, make auto and taxis responsible on stands. With these and similar actions, the travel time will reduce and so will the engine burning by a two-third. But there is no political will. Befooling public by blaming farmers and showing your helplessness is the hallmark of this political class. more

Unless large-scale alternative methods to ecologically use the crop stubs without burning them are developed, a solution to this problem would remain a far cry. The fires of California are news every year. Australia burns their crops and the haze reaches right up to Singapore. The Indonesian state of Borneo has yet not been able to stop burning their crops and that affects Singapore additionally. All this has been going on since over thirty years now, or even more. Actually, burning appears to be a quick and economical procedure. Some time ago I happened to see a video in which it was shown that Thailand has found a way to using the crop-stubs elsewhere and not burn them. Time factor and the commercial aspects were not highlighted therein. more
This burning is every year feature with no solutions ,all ministers of centre live in Delhi town but no one is worried as come from western India. Similarly water logging here is matter of concern but BJP controlled MCD even after 20 years did not resolve. You and I may have concern but no solution comes out and after some months we will discuss some other problem with no results. more
