Getting an electricity connection
one of the important criteria for doing business rankings is days taken to get new electricity connection. last i checked for business connections there were bribes needed to get it done faster in up and mp. standard time 30-45 days. bribe paid time 10-15 days.
Can anyone here share their experience thats more recent may be, even if its any other state or same state. more

Dear Members, What Pradeep Saha is saying most of the people may have experienced and perhaps it is owing to our own weakness. We have not tried to understand the matter ourselves and always been hasty to get the things done. My experience is we can manage our day to day issues with 50% possibility of success. more

May be a faint star in the pitch-dark sky. I could obtain new electricity connection (Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation) without paying a single paise. Connection was given within the probable days intimated (don't remember precisely - but definitely before 07 days) . more

Corrupt practices are involved all through the country. A rightful applicant must get the electricity connection with appropriate metering system, which is the basic requirement. In my opinion, an applicant must get a written email response and SMS within 7 days of making application and if there is no flaw in the application the connection should be installed within 10 to 15 days time. Regulatory Commissions can take care of such requirement if they so desire. I impress upon one aspect that one prospective consumer should do the needful himself instead of making application through mediators and must ensure "NOT TO PAY BRIBE" to expedite the process. Bribes are promoted by the who person who gives and bribe is given when one is not right and wishes to hide the facts. more

Mr. Sanjit Jha, when you are putting up your harassment in local circle, please detail everything with office name, official name so that it opens up exact details and action can be taken. Unless you raise your voice before starting the business, there will be no end to pay bribes, bribes and bribes. more

Who will take the action? Unless you go through brokers or middlemen or consultants you cannot get anything done in this country from any Govt. Dept almost anywhere in India in spite of all chest thumping. That's the reality on the ground. Corruption chain starts from there and goes up in the hierarchy. more
