All rules get twisted by private businesses to make more and more profit, that's my experience of decades. The biggest loot is that first courts ordered that people must be charged for plastic bags to reduce plastic, so all shops started charging rs 1 to 5 or even ten rupees and minted money selling plastic bags though plastic in the environment never reduced. Now it is paper bags which cost anywhere from 5 rs to ten rs and its handle keeps breaking or it gets torn on the way especially if you take a crowded public transport. Now they are selling cloth bags for 15 to 40 rs with their logo printed on it. Though no one ever told us till date that the millions of rupees collected in selling plastic bags , where have they been used to reduce plastic pollution by the companies ? Logically this money should not have gone to company profits but towards govt fund for pollution control. RULES SHOULD BE SIMPLE AND STRAIGHT OTHERWISE IT IS LOOT. more
I wonder whether a poll was conducted on the travellers' preferences, before this governmental declaration !! After all, such regulations should be for the general benefit of the passengers too. more
Still Air India is not implementing the court rule in a complete manner. They are allowing refund of their tickets by the travel agents for a limited time in the past months and again on the 01/02Mar 2021. Also, travel agents can refund tickets to a value not exceeding the sale of tickets made in that period. Since the Air travel is not completely opened yet and hence the sale of new tickets is in a lower volume but there are refunds pending for cancelled flights which would amount to a greater value as compared to the fresh sale of tickets. The various travel agents associations in India do not have the guts to challenge Air India in this matter when the National carrier is not fully obeying the Supreme court ruling! more
