Good transport in Indian Railways - Root Causes

Below are the key issues as outlined by you in regards to goods transport in Indian Railways.

Kindly review them and share root causes for these issues. We will have a seperate discussion on solutions and the develop a whitepaper on the subject capturing all three.


Goods Transport in Indian Railways – Key Issues

1. The staff is not cooperative
2. No correct rate chart to guide the customers
3. No proper tracking mechanism in terms of present status and delivery timelines
4. Speed of transportation is really slow
5. No clear demarcation in terms of classification of goods transported
6. No proper storage facility for goods before embarkation and disembarkation
7. No proper facilities for cold shipments - perishable goods
8. No point to point services for enhancing the connectivity for commodity products
9. 24x7 booking service not available
10. Many items are mishandled and broken by the porters
11. Goods are stolen many times
12. The staff does not confirm which train will be carrying the goods
13. There is no insurance for goods in transit by train
14. There is no system for recovery of lost goods
15. There is no compensation given for damaged good
16. Time of delivery is not communicated in advance. more

Dear sir you are requested to shift proposed ghaziabad- meerut emu to anand vihar - meerut emu for better use of train. From anand vihar delhi is well connected by public transport of dtc and metro. From ghaziabad public again face challenges to reach delhi. Submitted in public interest. more  
See we can replicate the business processes from the best courier and goods transport carrier like DHL, Blue dart etc. Or we can subcontract the goods transport to these vendors. more

Insulated/ cold storage wagons to be introduced connecting all important ports to all major cities for hygienic handling the fish & other commodities . more  
1.Coach position display on the platform and on the over bridge-for major stations, 2.Ramp on each platform to overbridge for helping luggage lifting atleast for senior citizens. 3.Hand trolley like airports at major stations. 4.keep the station free from without tkt peoples. more
