Is it the government only to act? What are our responsibilities as responsible citizens in extending our helping hands to actively counter the dreadful situation? How many of Delhites have garaged their vehicles and started using public transportation? People of Delhi must come forward voluntarily to extend all possible support to the government(s) to effectively counter the nightmare and reestablish the credentials of the national capital city! more
CRACKERS As a first step, limiting the timings of bursting fire crackers. Secondly, ban on crackers which create noise / pollution above the prescribed level. Thirdly, heavily taxing all the crackers to act as a disincentive to purchase of crackers. Ban of crackers and high decibel music in all processions, including marriages, results of elections and the like. Even the timing and duration of such processions should be limited, so as to ensure minimum traffic disturbance. VEHICLES Increasing parking fees as suggested above. Areas or roads facing heavy pollution should be declared "not accessible" for private vehicles. more
