Govt Legitimizing Gifts(bribe) with regulations
So the cat has come out of the box with a back dated Govt regulations; of how one could demand bribe (..no no a bad word) it is only a gift from a friend! Now that the DVAC can rest in peace. What surprise checking ? with no actions so far.
1. Gift from a friend apart from relatives and close personal friend.
2. Forget about marriages, there can be any number of occasions/functions for gifting.
3. Gift upto Rs25000/- by cash or kind ? not specified. How could any friend gift upto 25000/- without any favour?
4. Gifts - how times in a year and from how many persons.
5. Permission from a higher authority - oral or written?
6.Getting interest free loans upto Rs5.00 lacs from a friend apart from a relative or close personnel friend, for construction/ or buying a house. How many houses during the service?
Now the public will be taken for a ride, demanded with impunity from a friend(public?) who goes to govt department for some service. The Registrar Office, RTO, Taluk Office to name a few. Forget about the contractors.
The govt is already collecting Flag Day donation all through the year for any services from the public. But what accounting procedure is followed, is there an audit?
If this is not an opening for corruption then what else. There was a collector in Ahmednagar during early 1980s -Mr. Anil Kumar who would say since the govt is collecting Re0.25 as court fee from a person as applicant for any service in the taluk/collectorate he should given a proper service. Service motto. Now it is time, we should protest and express displeasure in this aspect. Otherwise just like a tax demand notice we may one day get demand notice for a gift also. more

None of us wants a bye to corruptions. On the other way we nourish corruptions. We feel proud of having scope for some extra income by our sons and sons-in-law. We are always in the run to get our things done ahead of others by spending some money out of the way, we feel ashamed of asking any one for charging more than the stipulated price for a service or an article. We never protest to the school authorities for compelling to purchase books/stationery items from them at exorbitant prices but feel happy in obliging them. Under such existing atmosphere, there is no point in blaming the government alone. Corruption eradication needs 100% public participation apart from administrative governmental action. more

Rs,25000/- bribe is now legalized, that means everyone minimum bribe is 25t , govt has lot of money to increase their salaries and no money for the development of the city, so the property taxes have been increased by double, more

This need to be protested and accountability need to be brought in the system for all civil servants at all levels and each one of us can contribute for this with each small efforts more

Corruption is in built in our character. We pay bribe to the GOD in the form of Prasad to get his favour. more

This is not new. This is an old practice. I feel that all gift received from any person should shown in return filed with the ITO more
