Grass root experience

I have been doing and promoting small business for the last 30 years. The real problem is that the ministers and their secretaries don't have practical experience and they look for 5 trillion dollar economy through the mega players only. The MSME ministry has utterly failed to create the required ecosystem for it and believe in 'tall talks and no walks' just to please their political super-boss. Indian Ministers strongly believe in promising building bridges where there is no rivers. All hoax! more

disagree with Amit though bureaucrats ( not Technocrats ) are a problem as there is lack of Domain expertize in all departments but have visited Smart City expo and Def expo ( my domains) there i found the secretaries were technocrats and not bureaucrat's and were more efficient than the entrepreneur's and corporate heads and their style of working was that of CEO's heading a global MNC ( as most of them have resigned from global MNC's and joined Ministries on behest of central govt. leadership , maybe more needs to be done as its been now 70 years of lacklustre and non performing sycophant environment which existed in all form of govts. more
I run an MSME myself. I recall the times 2-3 decades ago when Sales Tax Officer was a terror and used to visit unannounced, trying to poke his nose in all kinds of things. Same was the case with officials from the Income Tax department or Central Excise. Now in last 20 years, I have had my company accounts scrutinized only once when we made significant capital investments and the accounts were accepted as it is without any demand. For over a decade we have not faced any scrutiny. Somewhat similar is the case with GST - you file monthly returns and be done with it. Up to Rs. 2 crore turnover, you don't even need to file annual return. We do not pay monthly bribe to electricity department eiven and our account is up to date with online bill payments. more
I agree with you. See what a mess these Bureaucrats have made of GST which was touted as good and simple tax by PM. more
MSMEs must create an all India trade body having state wise chapters. The trade body could take up with respective governments on advocacy for MSMEs.The name of such a body could be All India MSME Promotion council more
Its highly impossible for Government servants to work without a bribe. B'cos most of them pay money to get jobs, to stop transfers, to revote suspension, etc. With regard to Politicians, they all spend crores and crores of rupees to win elections and they won't accept an environment which is devoid of Corruption. It would be more deadlier than Coronavirus for them. Corruption is the lifeline for Politicians and Bureaucrats.....The meter will run from day 1. The hallmark of Government services is 'No accountability, no responsibility, no punctuality, no deadline, etc. For example, even GST (God Save Taxpayer) department, which is just 4 years old, is having lot of issues, as reported by CAG in its audit report. more
