GST ABOVE MRP.
GST on MRP.
Today I bought a Ladies sweater from Eastern Stores, Commercial street, Bangalore. When choosing the product the sales man told the price is Rs. 2935/- and offered me 15% discount. I accepted thinking that MRP Rs.2935/- is including GST of 12% and above that 15% discount will be calculated. But when I received the bill the MRP is Rs. 2935/-, discount @15% is Rs. 440.25/- and GST is charged @ 12% for Rs. 2494.75/- (after discount) as SGST Rs. 149.69 & CGST RS. 149.69/-.
When I asked the shop owner about this they told this is the old tax and the new tax will be implemented after April only. I am also a trader and I mentioned him that, but he was not accepting. As I didn't want to enter into argument with him, I told him that I will find the truth and returned home.
I have the receipt. Please advise me the next course of action to be taken.

Central, Brand Factory and many other outlets of Kishore Biyani and Ambani are looting the customers. Firstly they say that flat 50% discount. When you purchase the item, you have to pay 50% price plus additional tax over it as per rules. Actually the basic price should be reduced and then tax should be applied making it flat 50%. Who knows how much money is made by this method by Biyani and Ambani from these outlets. more

This is an unfair business practice as no tax is chargeable on any MRP even after providing for the discount. It is suggested you may kindly ask the retailer to refund the amount else send complaint to Controller of Legal Metrology. You have a right to file a complaint before District Consumer Forum in case you fail to get refund from the retailers. Any assistance you may require please post your message here. more

The Best way to handle this type of transactions is " Payment After Inspection and delivery". Nevertheless if you are having the relevant communication you can file complaint before the Consumer forum as well as Consumer Dept. readdreses more
