GST filing issues
GSTR1 filing window for July has been opened. Those with nil sales, are not able to submit the return. It does not generate the summary. And on submitting, an error comes that there is nothing to submit. The portal does not even have a contact for help or logging issues. This is basic for any software implementation. If anyone is able to successfully file nil returns, please post in this circle.

Well, I finally managed to file my nil GSTR1 return. These were the steps I followed: 1.Dashboard->REturns->Financial year 2017-18, July ->Search 2. GSTR1->Prepare online 3. 13-Documents Issued. In this, added a document with all values as zero. 4. Generated the summary 5. Preview (showed documents as 1) 6. Went back to 13-Documents and deleted the added entry 7. Did a preview (showed documents as 0) 8. Submit 9. File GSTR1 with EVC. GSTR1 was filed. more

If GSTR-1 details are same for July, Aug, Sept, etc., then we should be able to import previous month's data and should be able change the values if required... rather than everytime we have to enter the customer's GSTIN and details... more

GST filing for every month should be independent and should NOT be dependent on previous month... I had GSTR-3B issue with July and I cannot file GSTR-3B for Aug... then Govt says you have pay the penalty and interest for not filing on date... Hope Govt considers and not collect any interest or penalty till GST filing platform is READY/GOOD ENOUGH TO FILE. more

I have sent the following mail to them: I am unable to file my GSTR1 with nil values for July (since I did not raise any invoices in July). After the "Generate GSTR1 Summary process is initiated, Please recheck after one minute". I get the following error when I submit : Error! You have no summary to submit GSTR1 This problem has been there since yesterday and several of the tax payers are facing this issue (a google search with the above message will give you the details). Please fix the issue and provide a notification on the web site. Also, provide the contact details after logging in as well and also correct the email id to helpdesk@gst.gov.in (not helpdesk[at]gst[dot]gov[dot]in) more

As mentioned by Mr. Goel, what our "learned professionals" say is incorrect. The portal still gives an error for nil returns. And I managed to find a contact details somewhere on the web page BEFORE LOGGIN IN. There is an email address which looks thus: helpdesk[at]gst[dot]gov[dot]in. Our learned professional of the favorite service provider does not even know how to display an email id. So much so for fixing issues. more
