GST for Apartments on Maintenance collection

All apartment dwellers are tax payers. There is maintenance collected to meet common expenses such as Electricity Bill in the common areas, water supply and such other maintenance related tasks. So is it fair to collect GST on the contributions to the maintenance fund? more

GST on maintenance charge collection? That is nonsense and daylight robbery !! Nobody should pay it. more

Majority of the issues raised on this forum arise out of the ignorance of person posting. Majority of the participants lack basic domain knowledge. Majority has termed Supreme Court decision on Restaurants being allowed to charge beyond printed MRP as unfair. In fact globally and even in India, the goods supplied for consumption in an Restaurant is a service and cannot be treated as sale of bottle of water. The customer is served water for consumption which is different from sale in a retail store. more  
It is Fleecing to charge more than MRP for water, while they are heavily earning on food preparation... more

To quickly ADD: SC 's Favorable Judgment * re. levy of income-tax on housing societies . And, that is regarded to hav set the binding PRECEDENT in respect of issue(s) under the ST/GST laws , as well.
