Gst on painting

painting the home attracts 18% GST on the entire bill (material+labor). every painter is saying, pay cash and no GST. Can the Gst council do something or this is going to be common evasion. It already is. more

Agree with Derek wholeheartedly. The poor consumer is at the receiving end, the government is profiteering, the traders are taking in the GST loot but the poor consumer has to pay thru his nose with no benefit at all!!! more

Seems it’s a scenario when paint companies arrange painting with their own paint where selling and painting are bundled-in which case gst is chargeable on both at a rate which is higher between goods(paint) and service. Otherwise one can very well purchase paints(with gst) and engage labourers(even provided by companies having less than 20lac tornover) without gst. more
