GST over discounted MRP
Even after 2 years of gst brands like central are charging gst over discounted price/MRP.
Why does the legal metrology department inactive on such important issue. Please see attached.
When questioned they show some CAs letter from vat regime.
If legal metrology cant act say so and we will escalate to GST dept more

Don't depend on anyone to correct it. Take it to the consumer court. Everyone knows what the percent of GST should be on a particular item and if the sum collected is more than the base price of the product, it is cheating. You will be rewarded for your efforts. Some time back there was a similar complaint before the consumer court and the customer won the case. Whatever may be the reasons for collecting GST over discounted prices, the Revenue Depatt. should have come out by now clarifying the correct position so that the customers do not become preys of the sellers. Will the department concerned look after the matter now? more

The Looting and cheating by corrupted people (whether in establishments or in business ) will continue even if there is a criminal Law like GST - because the surveillance by the Tax Officers did not happen. Now that the Vote is over, the surveillance should take place as the GST audit is also starting. At this time, uploading grievances to GST Portal with proof (you have not shown the proof that they charged you more than Rs599/- ??) - will be highly beneficial to the Tax officers as they can first target those places where proof is available. more
