GST should be taken only on the discounted amount which will be inclusive of GST. If the MRP is 100 and offered a discount of 20 you have to pay only 80 inclusive of GST. more

NO. MRP is inclusive of all taxes. If discount is offered that goes out of cost of goods & the sellers liability on GST is reduced as he takes input tax credit on full value. more

I had similar experience, however, I argued and advised the shopkeeper to remove while purchasing an item from ITC outlet in Lajpat Nagar. I informed him, MRP includes GST, so no GST is allowed. Ultimately I got it done. more
