GST

GST from the start is not user friendly as far as MSMEs are concerned. On one side low key MSMEs who can not afford auditors are fined for late filing returns and on otherside companies who employ smart auditors loot the govt.
The basic principle of having different forms for firms with nil return and for form with crores turnover is forgotten.
For late filing of returns for a company with nil return i have paid Rs 60,000. i have applied for refund.
govt is quick to release funds for fradulant claims whereas genuine claims are not cared for since there is nothing there for the officers. more

Dear Mr. Sukumaran nair, I agree with you that GST is must in the interest of escaping from the inspectors in different robes and checkpost looters .but while designing a GST scheme Govt shouldhave included some people with ground realities. They do not understand the basic pattern that no simple logic would apply for all. Just like different IT return forms, they should have designed different forms based on turn over and transactions (within state, interstate and international). A story running around in old times would be opt here. there is a school Dehradoon where only rich and very rich people used to study. Rajiv Gandhi studied there. one day a teaher asked the students to write a few lines on poverty. All students wrote uniformly like this. " in India there was a poor villager. He was poor,His wife was poor, his driver was poor, his Chef was poor, his gardener was poor, his watchman was also poor" such is the position of our bureaucrat. they do everything auditor friendly and they do not design user friendly. i do not know whether it is intentional or by default. As i have written earlier My friend used to comment that Govt succeedded in turning farmers into beggers by making them wok for middlemen and traders and money lenders. Now Govt is trying to make MSMEs beggers by making them work for auitors and banks and officers. more

Mr Subramaniam Venkataraman, GST has been a great game-changer. In pre-GST days, harassment from Sales Tax and Central Excise officers was very high. Check posts at every state border used to halt freight movement for hours and even days. There used to be a plethora of taxes like octroi, entry tax etc. With GST all these hassles have gone and doing business has become much much easier. There may be a few areas that need improvement. But it is not as frightful as you project it. more
Mr Subramanian is absolutely right. I am an MSME who has been under the threat of Late fee fines for some time. The GST portal is quite prompt at sending emails when the due dates have been crossed. But they never send a warning EMail or SMS at the very least a single day before the due dates for filing returns. Such a damage to self employed person managing units single handed. The attitude of the officials at local GST offices are quite those from British Raj. High handed, rude and ruthless. more
