Hafta System
Can we please discuss where all hafta takes place and do something about it. I think it adds to our cost of living because fruits/veggies and many other things will be cheaper if this wasn't there. more

This is how this starts. Fruits and vegetables are sold by people who do not have valid licences. Instead of removing them or helping them to get valid licences, local gundas, Police and politicians earn hafta from them. Now this has become a system. Start buying everything online, this system will die on it's own. more

Local goons are doing it from footpath in the name of protection to the vendors. If Government/ Local authorities provide/ allot space for the small vendors, there will be no alternative except police protection. more

Hafta collection culture is not confined to Delhi alone but is prevalent throughout the country. Be it police, Market committee, Sales-tax, sanitation, anti encroachment staff, RTO or even politicians. The whole system has rotten. (Saari Daal hi kali ho gai hai). Simply shouting slogan "we will eradicate corruption" has not taken even Modi Govt. anywhere. The State politicians are deadly corrupt. Like China, unless death penalty is not given to corrupt elements, no power on earth can eradicate/control corruption in our GREAT India. more
