Hallmarking Survey
Some time back in the circles a survey was being done on hallmarking issues and we shared feedback. can the circle admin or BIS share the final findings and what changes should we as general public expect from hallmarking. A lot of jewellers to fraud hallmarking and many people dont even know about hallmarking, let alone testing of jewellery.

hall marking is by private agencies/people, who are authorised by BIS. There is no check mechanism on their working/stamping. There are black sheeps in every trade. Before buying gold u can get checked the purity from 2-3 hall marking agencies for counter checking the purity.

DEAR ANSHU,your concern is a universal..the first thing any consumer should consider... if the price is right..if the quality is good and is it under any warranty/guaranty..above and all ..WE SHOULD ASK YOURSELF if the reputation of the SHOP is established. Well,even in my case when my wife buys any gold,she make sure she buys only a KNOWN/REPUTED SHOP.Then the HALL MARK authenticity takes a back seat! But you are right,our GOVERNMENT must make sure off and on,if such standardization is maintained by the SHOP who are stamping "HALL MARK" on their gold product. Hope,we have been able to find some relief to your apprehensive on buying gold ....women can not but resist to look good, decking gold ornament..on the other side..in our country, GOLD IS CONSIDERED AS SRRE DHAN.HAPPY BUYING.With regards.BN DAS

When was this survey done? Please give the link or any related info. Hallmarking of gold is basically a fraud on the public by the Bureau of Indian subStandards.
