Handling Earthquakes Better - Inputs Needed

Yesterday's earthquake caused significant damage to Nepal, parts of Bihar, UP and WB and shook most of North India.

We seek your inputs on what needs to be done so we can better handle earthquakes. India is among the top 10 most earthquake prone countries in the world.

You are welcome to refer to the general Disaster Management whitepaper we recently submitted to PMO and Home Ministry.

We look forward to your inputs!

Japanese can throw more light on this disaster., where the whole nation unite and plunge into action. The kids are well taught how to deal natural calamity, morals etc as they start their school life for three years. Then, the subjects are taught. Within a week time normal life was restored after the sunami strike. Great Japanese. more
Check the buildings vertical growth and density in seismic active zones and tear down all illegal construction, especially where the building bye laws are violated. Prevention is always better than cure, so ensure all earthquake proof measures taken during the time of construction of buildings. Emergency actions, health care, food, shelters should be clearly instructed as mandatory topic in Geography for all schools of India as well as earthquake prone zones of north east and Himalaya ranges. more
