Has parliamentary System Worked in India ?

Ever since NDA has come into power since May 2014, parliament is more often adjourned then worked. More than 50 percent of time is wasted by slogan shouting politicians. Typical argument is that BJP did that in past so they are getting them back in same currency. Regardless of merits in these arguments, time has come to remind politicians to justify their position and roles and wasting taxpayers money on stalling parliament for no reason or rhyme. Does it anyway justify that MPs are stalling parliament working with impunity every day ? Watching Loksabha and Rajyasabha TV and conduct of MPs shouting and sloganing and rushing into well is a disgusting scene and it really forces us to think is this the role for which we have elected MPs. As such Parliament functions only 3-4 times in a year and those sessions are washed out repeatedly. Both government and opposition parties are guilty of wasting public money. Time has come for us to remind elected representatives to perform their duties in the legislative work and for the welfare of citizens of this country. If opposition is not happy with the actions of government, they have a right to question them and hold them accountable. Final test of pudding is in eating. If government has not performed well, public will vote them out in next election. We have accepted parliamentary system and every party has to wait for their turn if public favors them. Shouting and stalling parliament is not a solution. more

Agree...think Parliament system is not suitable for our country...one of the reasons why most ppl admire Shri Modi Ji so much is that He is functioning like an ideal king, talking to the ppl, solving our problems, easily approachable and bringing about changes everyday proactively to make life better for the common man..like how our Sastras describe the best, golden period is under Bhagwan Shri Ram as Shri Ram Rajya..I think India deserves and needs to revert back to monarchy with an ideal, noble, honest king who is accountable and takes responsibility for the ppl..in Parliament the Opposition gets away with stalling the House proceedings and sill take home a pay...waste of our valuable tax payers money..there is just no accountability and the MPs do what they want, say what they want. however unreasonable, unjust or criminal and get away with it..Ashamed..think huge many mistakes have been made by past politicians like Gandhi, Nehru, etc by thrusting democracy and Parliament system with two houses on us Indians..ignorance of the masses was taken undue advantage of.. more
Hello! Ajit Manke , Sir , Perhaps , you have missed to read my following Resource on betterment of parliamentary System in India . I suggested an economic model to reduce overhead costs with effective use of time-factor targeting Peoples' Representation for National Objectives with the help of online-technologies in India . We are advanced now. Please read further , Sir. ONLINE PARLIAMENT IN 21st CENTURY ? A REALITY ? =============================== Speaking–Reading-Writing-Solutions are not only halls of fame but also hall-marks of Nationality . Speaking makes one spotty, Reading makes one ready and Writing makes one perfect ! Transforming India demands asking , sharing ,discussing and expressing oneself summed up as Speaking-Reading-Writing-Solutions . So, all the peoples' elected Representatives of all Constituencies in India in their role as respective respondents with issues on hand could be termed as perfect people to form an Online Parliament of India for transforming India. This may be a great participating innovative democratic method called Online Parliament when the spotty ( habituated to speaking only ) becomes willingly ready ( to reading ) and the ready ( habituated to reading only ) becomes willingly perfect ( to writing) . In other words , one can say the above is aptly described as the " Online –Parliament " for leading India to forward transformation without suppression of knowledge of information of numbers supporting facts and facts having no numericals . Now , in year 2016 , value of India has gone up as referred to by the Prime Minister of England, Mrs. Theresa May , who said that modern India is a leading power in the World ! Truly , our image has transformed from that of poor to leading power . An Online-Parliament rules out visible personality clashes and verbal revenges because physical presence of Parliamentarians leaving their Constituencies at a given destination is a physical property while absence of a destination to assemble and congregate is not abstractness but an online chemical property of dissolved bonds of speaking ( spotty) , reading ( readiness ) & writing ( perfection) without economically wasting the precious "national costs " + " constituency-times ". more
The Judiciary though apportioned from Executive , STILL THERE IS NO BODY WITH RESPONSIBILITY TO FULFILL THE PROVISIONS OF THE CONSTITUTION , the Judiciary is also not in a position to help . This gap is to be Filled . more
1.The well of the House should not be made accessible during session (either physical access impossible or by law-to be expelled for the day). 2) When there is law and order situation like rioting or disturbing normal functioning of any system, the law enforcing authority takes away the disturbing elements and brings down normalcy.Similarly, such elements should be thrown out of the Houses by using Marshals which used to happen in the past.If the law makers are the law breakers, they should be disqualified from the membership by EC or some competent authority. 3)The Parliamentary affairs Minister should publish the list of disrupting members who made the sessions wash out for the benefit of the people of the country and especially to the constituencies who have elected them so that they should not be elected next time. The media also should give wide publicity against these law breakers. 4).If permissible, the tax payers representative should lodge public interest litigation against these law breaking members to recover the loss caused to public exchequor by stalling the Parliament if this cannot be done by the Speaker/Dy Chairman of the Houses. more
As a matter of fact the Opposition is not letting the Parliament function. They wanted discussion urgently hoping the government i=will not agree and that will give them an excuse to stall the house, But the government agreed to an immediate discussion which went on for two days with almost evry party in the opposition having had their say. Now when the time for the government replying came the opposition stalled the work by demandind a reply fromthe PM only, although the matter concerns the Finance Ministery and the Finance Minister was prepared to reply. Ultimately the Government agreed to the PM replying to the debate, Then the opposition wanted a full time presence of the PM. Surely the entire proceedings in the Parliment are recorded and no PM has ever said he was not aware of what happened in the Parliment when he was not present in the Parliament. NOW WHEN THE PM IS REMAINING PRESENT IN THE HOUSE THE OPPOSITION PARTIES STILL KEEP SHOUTING SLOGANS AND STALLING THE WORKING. and presence What can an ordinary honest voter and tax payer think about this EXCEPT THAT THOSE WHO ARE STALLING THE WORKING OF THE PARLIAMENT ARE ONLY WASTING THE MONEY PAID BYOF THE HONEST CITIZENS. more
