Headed into a nasty recession

Amazon tells 798,000 employees to halt travel in US and abroad over coronavirus fears.

This is huge considering Amazon is the number 12 buyer of corporate travel in the U.S.. The company spent $220 million in 2018 on air travel.

Urge all Indian startups and smes to be ultra conservative with every rupee they spend. If I were you, Id cut cost, freeze all discretionary and raises and work twice as hard.

WE ARE NOT HEADED INTO RECESSION. these are short term phenomenon that happens and one must know that these are very normal happenings. yes, some companies may wind up their operations due to various factors that affect them badly, for many these are opportunities to correct their wrong approaches. spending on unwanted things is a strict NO anytime, not just when the going gets tough. wait till December 2020 and you will see the situation turning around and slowly things improve. once an event happens, it has to be allowed to run its course. never stop it half way. it is very dangerous. once it runs it full course, then it turns around and goes the other way. but economists, financial experts do whatever is stupid. they are stupids. more
I agree with Chanderkiran Nanda and will like to add that we should be cautious in spending and travelling and take appropriate precautions but everything cannot be stopped or postponed for indefinite period more
Yes, we should avoid making unnecessary purchase's for next few months. Money saved is money earned " at this time of great uncertainty". We should conserv as much as possible. more
Startups should not be afraid of initial hiccups. more
Mr. Sudesh if everyone stops everything and stays home do you think this world can run. If your answer is yes then it would have been a wonderful place to live in. The problem has come. Let us find a way to fight it out. Yes few of us may perish but many will live happily thereafter. more
