Health benefits of Onion?

Are there any health benefits of eating onion, both cooked or raw? my daughter does not like onion. If it is good for health, I could look into introducing it to her. more

Thanks Richi. Will try that. more
that will do....she can have spring onions, so make her eat them first like putting in paranthas or noodles/maggi. you can also grate onions in the dough and make paranthas with adding besan to it. Try them...she may like it more
Wow! Didn't realize that onion was so healthy. Thanks to both of you. Are there are any advantages of eating raw onion (like in salad) or putting onion paste in the curry is as good as eating it raw? She does not like the pieces. So, if I put the onion paste in the curry, she does not complain :) more
Absolutely true...onions are very beneficial. If she doesn't eat onions try introducing them in her food in some innovative ways. more
1.The phytochemicals in onions improve the working of Vitamin C in the body, thus gifting you with improved immunity. 2.Onions contain chromium, which assists in regulating blood sugar. 3.For centuries, onions have been used to reduce inflammation and heal infections. 4.Do you enjoy sliced onions with your food? If yes, rejoice! Raw onion encourages the production of good cholesterol (HDL), thus keeping your heart healthy. 5.A powerful compound called quercetin in onions is known to play a significant role in preventing cancer. 6.Got bitten by a honeybee? Apply onion juice on the area for immediate relief from the pain and burning sensation. 7.Onions scavenge free radicals, thereby reducing your risk of developing gastric ulcers. 8.Those bright green tops of green onions are rich in Vitamin A, so do use them often. more
