Collective Citizen inputs for improving State of Healthcare in Delhi
1. Government Hospital staff should be trained on customer service at regular intervals
2. Commissions/margins on medicines should be reduced so that medical stores are not able to pass on heavy commissions to doctor
3. Organizations like DMA should encourage doctors to learn the generic prescriptions
4. Government should set up pharmacies which sell generic medicines only
5. Websites/mobile apps should be developed which could tell the generic alternative to a costly medicine
6. A Government agency should be constituted to keep a check on the private medical labs and diagnostic centres
7. Health Ministry should set up a bench to overlook the workings of private hospitals
8. The compensation of the Doctor at private hospitals must be completely de-linked from the revenue that is generated by the Doctor for the hospital
9. The cash remuneration of Government Hospital doctors should be made atleast 50% of those at private hospitals along with other Government job benefits so some top talent chooses to work for Government hospitals
10. More neighbourhood health clinics should be opened for the common citizen providing services at nominal cost
11. Any hospitals that have gotten land at a concessional rate, should be forced to adhere to the EWS policy
12. It should be made mandatory for the private hospitals to disclose how many free beds are allocated and how many patients have been treated from economic weaker sections on a monthly basis
13. All private hospitals must pay full income taxes like other private businesses
14. Government should monitor EWS category scheme closely
15. Any hospitals who have been found non-compliant to the EWS policy in the last 5 years must pay up a certain compensation equivalent to land lease costs for the non compliance period to the Delhi Government more
