Year after year, we have observed floods during monsoon and a dry season for the rest of year. Majority of the rain waters simply flow away into the sea. Moreover the floods create a havoc in lives and properties of the people. This is a lose-lose situation. Water harvesting should be taken up on priority. The expenditure will repay itself from the very next year in terms of reduced cost of repairing the damage to property as well as the cost incurred in arresting the epidemics. Moreover, the water scarcity to be faced in the next year will also be reduced - resulting in better agricultural produce. The vicious circle will then be converted to virtuous circle and will be beneficial to the society at large. more
