We have been attacked from all over with information good as well as bad. This attachment pertains to consumption of modern day wheat .

In the 70's and 80's Medical personnel all over the world opined that cholesterol was the root cause for atherosclerosis ,heart disease and death . So we became conscious of our food avoiding foods that contained cholesterol and fat. So we kept all the Laboratories occupied with blood samples.

Now the research has reversed the findings and has said cholesterol is important as it is the basic material for all the beneficial enzymes.

The attached article says that Wheat is more harmful than the rice in increasing the blood glucose. So the author advocates :

*I encourage people to return to real food: vegetables and nuts, unpasteurized cheese and eggs and meats in all forms, avocados and olives.

*People have been eating it for thousands of years, why is it suddenly such a problem?
WHEAT REALLY CHANGED IN THE 70'S AND 80'S DUE TO A SERIES OF TECHNIQUES USED TO INCREASE YIELD, INCLUDING HYBRIDIZATION AND BACK CROSSINGS. IT WAS BRED TO BE SHORTER AND STURDIER AND ALSO TO HAVE MORE GLIADIN, A POTENT APPETITE STIMULATE.

*The wheat we eat today is not the wheat that was eaten 100 years ago. Wheat has also become a much more central part of the American diet.

*What if I remove the wheat, but I’m still eating carbohydrates?

So, for example, I stop eating my sandwich every day, and I start eating rice with chicken and vegetables. Will I still have the health benefits? Will I still lose weight? Most do, yes. Because rice doesn’t raise blood sugar as high as wheat, and it also doesn’t have the amylopectin A or the gliadin that stimulates appetite. You won’t have the same increase in calorie intake that wheat causes.

That’s part of the reason why foreign cultures that don’t consume wheat tend to be slenderer and healthier.

But Sir, in India people believe that rice eating pron to become fatty while wheat eating people are healthy. more  
Findings of different researchers always contradict others findings. Till now the patients of blood sugar were being advised by their attending physicians to consume wheat made chapatis as their main food and to avoid consumption of rice mainly responsible to shoot up sugar contents in blood. The result of the present research has just reversed the earlier ones making choosing right one difficult, though we are not competent enough to comment on any research findings. As referred to the changes took place in the quality & hygienic value of wheat today is equally applicable to the production rice as well. Wheat made breads are the main food for the western people even today, who consume breads all the 3 times a day. In India where more than 60% people live below the poverty line and unable to fill their stomach thrice a day, how could they dream of consuming foods recommended under 'real food' is beyond imagination! As we were told by the doctors, there are two types of cholesterol in human body named HDL & LDL. While HDL is good & essential, the other one (HDL) is dangerous and causes cardiac related serious diseases. Do the present findings certify both kind of cholesterol as good ? Doctors and the food industry are actually a cartel. One reduces the parameter for checking insulin in the blood so that more patients are there in the market. Government should be active in monitoring these monkies otherwise they just play with peoples life. "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" was actually coined to help the apple industry. Now a days doctors say eat the fruits available in the respective season. more
