Higher Charges of meals in train by Pantry staffs
We were charged Rs.130 for one dinner purchased from Pantry car staff on 01-03-2017 in the train # 12907. My PNR: 8356096446, seat No. 1. in 2nd AC. The rate for dinner declared by IRCTC is Rs. 50 per person. This way the vendor charged Rs.80 in access. Why so? Should stop this and penalise the default vendor.

Excellent work Mr Sunil.. lets hope someone act on this ...Bcz railways do not have enough staff to check the ticketless travelers or to check platform tickets, people with reserved tickets are not allowed to board trains... the existing staff are mute spectators of this ......so ...... more

I fully agree. Railways are solely responsible, since they appoint vendors. Railways should surprise checks both for quality of foods served in trains and check the malpractices of overcharging. more

Railway is a big dacoit place, a honest minister is not enough travelers should raise issue. more

Its a general practice by the vendor. They charged 30-80 % higher than the notified rate. Like Tea- Rs.10 for 7,Veg cutlet & Bread 40 for 30,Bread Amlete 50 for 35. All meals above 100.when you asked for rate list they will not provide but they will provide bill. there is no any control over the catering. This happens only because they are not punished by railway. Even packed biscuits and cakes etc are printed excess. They remove the actual price by thinner or chemical and stamp with the new escalated price. more
