Hotel savings due to GST rule change

So everyone if you were earlier staying a hotel which had rack or list price room tarriff of INR 10000 and you go the room for 5000, you still were being charged GST at 28%.

With the recent changes made last week, now the GST charged for that scenario will be 18%. So now if actual room rate over 7500 per night tax rate is 28% but if less than it than rate will be 18%.

Good move.... more

Many people still cant afford 18% and some small hotels are losing their business because other hotels in 5 star category are competing with them with this new facility. Recently I stayed in a 5 star hotel in New Delhi where tariff charged to me for dbl occupancy with Breakfast was Rs 5000 per night. Its a fare deal but still very unfair for other Hotels. Big fish is eating the small fish. more
