Hotel rates are high because demand outstrips supply. What Prabha Rao says is true, we can write true reviews of hotels we visit. Bad publicity is the only way the private sector hospitality industry will reform, and maybe bring down their rates also. The ministries of tourism at the centre or the states can have a feedback mechanism, and forward the feedback with advice/instructions/suggestions and even threats to wrongdoers. more
Well am a CA and is frm the hospitality industry. I agree with the view tht the owners want money and only money but not at the cost of service. Today's world is connected n any hotel cannot ignore customer service. As far as prices r concerned i have interacted with a lot of hotel owners, and there view we clear they r not there for charity!!! more
The hotel charges in India are the highest in Asia for the same rates, one would get more comforts / facilities in other countries. This may be due to greedy pricing. The washrooms are poorly designed & not properly cleaned, so do the towels. The restaurant pricing are that of "blackmailers" or appears like "punishing" the hotel visitors with their prices. Say a steamed rice plate costs Rs. 350 !!! or a Plain palak dish costs Rs. 350 hardly sufficient for TWO rotis. The quantity is also just enough for a person on SLIM DIET. This problems are more in northern india. South India is much better. In both situations the hotel maintenance is NIL or non-existent. Widely & frequent office traveller. For a night of 4 hours rest, a mumbai hotel who had plenty of rooms vacant, charged Rs. 8,000, otherwise refusing rooms i.e. declined stating rooms are "house full". After searching 10-15 hotels, got tired & checked in for there was no alternative. more
Every time you stay at a hotel please write a true & factual review of the place. if reviews are not good people will not go there & the management will sit & take notice. The reviews can be written on any of the travel sites where the hotel is listed. more
We should work on the Mindset of Hoteliers where we found that 80% of the hotels where we find above mentioned issues are having owners who are only after minting money. They don't understand if they provide good services then in the long run they can have their business as cash cows. more
