How a legal system should work for consumer

The cancer train example shared by some members in thsi circle is very real. We are already staring at a pesticide driven cancer epidemic in Punjab and wait 10 years more to see real impact. Yesterday a US court fined Monsanto 289 million dollars for causing cancer to a man.

The consumer affairs, commisison and law ministry officials must take note and set up right laws/rules in place NOW so these companies cant take Indians consumers for a ride.

This is way too important and probably the only way to get these killer companies to get their act together.

The suggestion is very nice and it is also correct that the Govt. is blind on these issues. The Courts of India is further more Blind and the man who approaches for justice will be tortured fist and then no justice or justice. Therefore, we have to make joint appeal to the Court or Govt. to improve the justice delivery system so that any law breaker fears and desist from doing harm to People. more
Really speaking even though the insecticides are very harmful to the living beings it is not directly linked to cancer.First of all we should understand what is cancer.Four of the fundamental amino acids are responsible for protein synthesis which makes the cell . If any of these amino acids are replaced by a similar molecules containing nitrogen atom , the newly formed committee of the group may give orders to produce unwanted cells . Such a situation is known as cancer. In that list alkaloids from tobacco comes first. The second deadly material is red-meat The third one is food colors which are also nitrogenous materials The next one is the harmones injected to animals like broiler chicken To tell the truth broiler chicken and cancer came simultaneously Many insecticides are sulfur based Only nitrogenous insecticides are cancerous as some of may replace our amino acid committee Similarly Calcium carbide is very sensitive to moisture generating acetylene and lime . Both are not cancerous. Calcium carbide, CaC2, is produced from lime stone and carbon by heating at very high temperature . Any volatile materials ( like Hg or As )if at allpresent will go off. So artificial ripening of fruits is only a commercial cheating and nothing else. Diabetes is caused by glucose and not by sweet items. People avoid sweets and eat plenty of starch, which is 100% glucose and nothing more more
Govt/Concerned Ministries have to awake before it is too late. more
Your suggestions are indeed commendable. However, the unfortunate fact remains that we can cite incidents and verdicts from the U.S., and day dream that a day may come when our Government and judiciary would become atleast half enlightened and sincere as the U.S authorities have been. Our general mindset and practice is to do fire-fighting after the disaster took place! more
Unfortunately our agri ministers are just file pushers and do not think proactively..Do not know how much the consumer complaints will make them work..!! more
only the Department of AGRICULTUREcan take a decision on banning pesticides. With ICAR and INSECTICIDES board , under it, the pesticide companies are being given ROYAL WELCOME, despite they being denied entry,by, EURO and OTHER nations. We have not learnt the bad lessons of ENDOSULFAN more
