How are PayTM Rupay different from intl gateways

Platforms like PayTM who according to recent posts may have shared user data are no better than international payment gateways if I look at details shared by Mr. Shah. They all want a cut of 2840 rupees if I want to pay 1 lakh to a merchant. So whether it is indian gateway or intl, none has been able to reduce the cost for consumer.

No service provider can survive by offering free services only. However their service charges should be minimal & reasonable. more
I heard Advertisement thru Radio PAYTM Karo all transactions free but You say charge them more
I don't understand. If you are using the UPI option to do a UPI to UPI transfer via PayTM, there is no charge at all. I think you are depositing money into your PayTM wallet and then are trying to transfer it to that client's PayTM wallet. In that case, if he tries to transfer his WALLET money into his account, then PayTM will charge for the transaction. You see the issue is that PayTM gives a wide avenue of options for you to transfer money into your Wallet. You can use vouchers, cashbacks, credit cards, debit cards etc. And the card companies charge PayTM for loading their wallet which PayTM doesn't pass on to the customers. Earlier PayTM was charging nothing for wallet to bank transfer but then stopped it because it was being too expensive on them. I have personally seen people abusing the system and then transferring money into PayTM wallet through credit cards, then transferring it back to bank and then using that bank balance to pay the PREVIOUS month's credit card bill. Now the credit card companies have already charged PayTM the 1-2% merchant fee because they treat the wallet loading as a purchase made on credit card. As for merchant transaction fee, PayTM does the same process as any credit card company does. Here the merchant doesn't have to buy an expensive card vending machine and is still able to collect digital currency. Also, the merchant can instead offer customers an option to take change in the form of wallet payment so that he can get rid of the wallet money that is accumulated or else ask his distributor to accept wallet payments. The original idea of PayTM wallet was to encourage everyone from supplier, distributor, merchant and customer to get into the wallet ecosystem. But UPI dented that possibility and now all wallet companies are permitting UPI based transactions where there is NO charge at all. more
The idle money deposited by the consumer at a given time comes to Crores and as such PayTM should extend the benefit of money transfer at par or at a very low cost. more
Instead of politicising and terming it as "anti BJP mission",etc., if anyone has expertise, perhaps he/she must answer a relevant question raised by Shri.Amit Mishra please. Every knows that there is no free lunch available, but the question is about the justification and logic for new avenues for exploiting the citizen - whether in the name of Digital India or by any other name. Preaching of the leaders and real practice followed by the players must have co-relation; otherwise one has every right to term as mere publicity gimmic! more
