How ATM frauds happen

Must see and share friends. 2 of my family members have had ATM cards compromised where a sum of 9000-20000 was withdrawn from their cards. Blocking by bank happened after sms receipt etc but was too late. more

Daily one fraudster is coming new more
Several videos have been in circulation over WhatsApp, cautioning users and advising them to be careful. This is another such case. So, please be careful. However, being an optimist by nature, even I used to think that the banks to whom the ATM machines belong, would take care of the security for the benefit of the ATM users. But, sometimes, it really is not in their hands. The hackers can be cleverer..... Example: During our visit to New York in the year........, we stayed with our son in his Wall Street apartment for a period of three weeks. During this period we had occasion to withdraw money from a nearby ATM for shopping, naturally ! Three days after return to New Delhi we receive a phone call from our German bank (we lived and worked in Germany for about thirty years and there was our main bank account, naturally). Our German bank has noticed an "unusual and unprecedented" withdrawal from our account, to the order of over 25k Euro, during the period of our stay in NY. After Q & A we were given the assurance that that amount would be credited into our bank account......without loss of a single Euro-cent. And they did it too. For the first time I had learnt that there was an insurance on the credit cards which are issued by the European banks. Do we know whether this is the case in the banks of our own country ? Would someone knowledgeable please respond.....thanks ! more
What type of precautions are taking by the concerned banks to prevent fraud in ATM machines ? If any fraud through ATM Machine, the bank concerned must be responsible not the account holder. RBI should strict instructions to all banks. Customer should not be suffered. Hon'ble Prime Minister Finance Minister & Home Minister kindly be take it seriously to protect the savings of a Customer. more
The fraudsters must be given utmost deterrent punishment in the shortest time. more
Many such frauds can be avoided by engaging security guard. Further operations at nights can be reduced at many ATMs scheduling the timings based on the usage. ATMs design need to be modified to be free from such criminal acts or it gives an alarm at the central room to make it ineffective forthwith before such criminal act is done. In the current scenario, every citizen must be aware of the basic knowledge of operation which is now very user friendly and simple and no need to give reckoning for seniors. Again, we all should move to digital payments across and everywhere which will go in long way to reduce cash disbursement through ATMs. NGOs must conduct awareness campaigns across the nation especially at rural India not only for customers but for merchand establishments al well who are very reluctant for this kind of payments due to the charges they need to pay to the banks which government must keep it to very minimal so that these shop keepers encourage their customers to go in for digital payments and it is absorbed as business expenditure. In such a scenario, volume of business will increase and it will be a win-win situation for both. In this area, FM must come with reforms and not stimulus. more
