We are forgetting that had the matter been amicably settled between the warring communities we might have built by now both a beautiful Ram Mandir AND a Muslim Masjid or University AND a beautiful Park with our indigenous trees, which might have drawn the interest of tourists from South East Asia and elsewhere. Bangkok in Thailand draws so many tourists just to see King Rama IV's palace since they have the added attraction that the king was the subject of the Yul Brynner Hollywood movie 'The King and I'. We have missed a golden tourism opportunity because of our inability to remove the festering wound of Partition, our misquided desire for one-upmanship between the two religions, and the long judicial process.
To my mind the judiciary and all concerned should seek a solution keeping the interests and welfare of the local population. It may not be adequate to solve the issue as a plain land title dispute.
Hope the Government Machinery and all interested parties do come round to Sri Sri Ravishanker's and others' magnanimous views.
