How Govt promotes corruption
Minister Maneka Gandhi is saying that NRIs will now have to register their marriage within 48 hours. As it is one needs to pay bribes for marraige registration in most parts of India. Now those fellows will demand premium bribes.

What is the logic or reason for Meneka's order of registering marriage within 48 hours. Modi had promised less government but we are seeing a lot more interference from the govt. in personal matters. more

I tend to agree with the suggestion "Govt should roll out come to the venue service with tatkal fee of 10000 and do the marriage registration and end the bribery and harassment", made by Aditya Sharma. The amount may be decided on a rational basis. Certainly it is a solution to arrest corruption. more

During registration of marriage of my daughter in Kolkata, the registrar had come to home on paying the stipulated fees and without any demand for bribe. Similarly, the marriage of my son was registered in Delhi by visiting the office of the marriage registration and no bribe was paid. I think we have inculcate a habit to doubt and to smell foul in everything and in every matter. Though corruption in this country has crossed all limits and it is difficult for us to believe that any transactions with public departments could be effected without bribing the concerned staff & officers, honesty still prevails in many ways we are not accustomed with. more
